Active HOME Week!
Good Morning Everybody!
Welcome to Active HOME Week! This week (27th April - 3rd May) is Active Home Week as part of our Active Schools. We know Active Week is usually in June, but with everything being so uncertain at the moment, we didn't want to miss out entirely on Active Week and so are bringing it to you at home!
You should all have received Mrs Darlington's email last Friday explaining how it works and giving you your record charts!
Try and complete 60 minutes of activity everyday this week by attempting lots of new kinds of games and exercises and record them on your record chart.
If you misplaced any of the documents, we have linked them below right here for you, including the Active Ideas Word Cloud!
!! DON'T FORGET - to send your completed record charts back to Miss Plunkett at the end of the week, and any photos of new activities too - we will feature them on our site. !!
Have a great week, we can't wait to hear from you!
Well done to our winners of the Active Schools Slogan Competition! Our new school Active slogan is:
'Run and Play to Make Your Day!'
Thank you to everyone for submitting your entries and to all of you who took the time to vote - it was a very close finish!
The dates for our Active Schools Week 2020 have been decided!
8th - 12th June 2020 is when it will all be happening.
If you have any suggestions for what you would like to be included, connections we could look into or ideas, please let one of our Active Committee members know so they can bring it to our next meeting.
A snap shot from our sports day. Big SHOUTOUT to the parents for bringing the game to our parent races today and for supporting us with the cheers and smiles from the sideline. It is always so lovely to have you with us during our Active Week. There was screams of delight from our students for the PTA who very kindly supplied all our participants with a snack and drink as a treat upon return to school after their efforts! Thank you to Wayside for allowing us to use their grounds again this year. We are grateful for the capacity in which you allow us to come down and set up to host both this and the school mile colour run during our Active Week each year. There is a buzz around the school after the beach ball partner races, egg and spoon races, sprints, obstacle courses, relays, jumps and so much more in which teams gained lots of points for their houses. Congratulations to all participants, we are already looking forward to next year!!
Olé olé olé olé! There were so many goals scored in the PE hall today we think Mick McCarthy should be dropping by to check us out! No doubt it was down to fantastic training we had from our guest coaches today, who trained each class individually throughout the day. Thanks for coming into us lads, we have all left the building in high spirits today.
Olympian Gymnastics Workshop
Well, we most certainly felt like olympian gymnasts when we had completed our session today! What a fabulous day with the most amazing equipment! We would highly recommend these guys for Active Week, or for any week really. That was the best fun doing all sorts of gym based activities!
Have a look at some of the photos from our colour dash as part of Active School Week. The smiles say it all!
Wow! What a buzz there was around the school today! Some of the teachers at KCOINS still have it! Everybody got to wear their house colour to school today and when it was time, we all went outside and sat in our houses around the 'football' area of the yard. Then the challenges began! Junior and Senior Infants completed a jigsaw relay race, 1st and 2nd class had a skip-off, 3rd and 4th class were challenged by the classic dress-up chocolate bar race and 5th and 6th class showed off their basketball skills. All of the tasks were in a bid to see which colour house would come out on top to take on the teachers! We had such fun outside in the sun, cheering on our team mates from all class levels (and teachers!) as the results unfolded. What a super day.
